How Apple has Transformed Vacations

My close friends know I'm something of a technology geek at heart and this trip has really proved it. After a couple of days of lugging around the thick 500-page Rick Steves' 2011 Guide to Rome, we decided to leave it in the apartment and download the Kindle version to our iPad/iPhone. It's great - all the maps, guides and tours in our pockets. We also downloaded free podcasts which gave us a really nice tour through the Colosseum and Roman Forum. Last night we made reservations online for the Vatican Museum for Friday. We got our confirmation via email with a bar code that we can show on the iPhone when we get there.

Now if I can only figure out an inexpensive data plan in Europe so I can use the GPS on my iPad so I don't get lost all the time...
