Day 12 - Shanghai

We flew to Shanghai this morning. It is our last stop on the trip. We met in the lobby at 8:30 after breakfast. I had French bread with peanut butter again. They had Skippy on the buffet! They have the most wonderful freshly squeezed juices. I had watermelon and Coral had mango.

We had boxed lunches waiting for us in the lobby to eat on the plane. Security was again no big deal. We had about an hour at the airport before we boarded our 3 hour flight.

From the airport we took the Maglev train to near the hotel. It’s a magnetic levitation train that can go up to 500km/hour. It wasn’t rush hour though so it only got up to 300 km, about 180 mph.

At the hotel we had about an hour before we met to leave for dinner at 4:45. They took us to the New York Times rated best dumpling restaurant in the world. It was good! Coral even ate dumplings!  They also gave us some rice wine to try. It comes in upto 70 proof, but they gave us 35 proof. I took two tiny sips. It tasted like licorice fire water.

After dinner we went to the best acrobat cirque de solei style show I’ve ever seen. It
was so impressive! I kept saying, “oh my God,” and “unbelievable,” the whole time!
We even got to go up on stage after it was over.

Back at the hotel we walked a block over to the Bund to take pictures of the skyline. Shanghai reminds me of Dubai. It is a big sparkly new city that has popped up in the last 20 years.

We were in bed by 10:30 to rest up for our final day.
