Shout out to Susan

Yesterday three bus loads of us former Aramcons headed to Al Ahsa for a trip to see the forts and caves. Our Reunion Volunteer was a new Aramcon named Susan. She's only recently arrived and the number of days she's been in Kingdom is probably fewer than the number of years most of us lived here.

But even as a total newbie, she led our group (bus #3) to some of the oldest areas in the Eastern Provence. I loved seeing the country through her eyes - the thrill of seeing camels hanging out on the side of the road, a huge gas flairs near Abqaiq, and the formality of being hosted by the Al Ahsa dignitaries for lunch.

She shared a great story about accidentally driving outside the main gate and we shared our best gold shopping tips. Once again we found that the shared Aramco experience makes fast friends.

I have to admit I was a little jealous that she is just starting her adventure in Saudi while we are reminiscing about ours. She's going to do great here, and even though she doesn't know it yet, she's going to come to love this country as much as we do.
