As in most third world countries, driving in Sri Lanka is a death-defying experience. In our 5 hour drive to Dambulla, we regularly experienced near head-on collisions with large buses as all drivers attempted to take a two lane road and use it as four lanes. I finally learned to stop looking out the window. It was much more pleasant then.
